SCHMOLZ + BICKENBACH at Plastpol

High-quality tool steel for the plastics industry

At Plastpol in Kielce, Poland, SCHMOLZ + BICKENBACH Group are introducing their full range of special steel solutions. The Group produces the materials at their own facilities and all products are optimally engineered to meet the demands of regional tool and mould makers. The focus is on high-hardness and easy-to-machine mould steels for plastic moulds. Formadur® 320, for example, is suitable for economical and precise manufacturing of sophisticated moulds for automotive applications, such as instrument panels or spoilers. In hall D, experts from the SCHMOLZ + BICKENBACH warehouse and service location in Mysłowice (PL) also present the full range of services from storage to technical customer support and needs-oriented machining and the just-in-time delivery of special steel products.

The requirements of the plastics processing industry for steel are strict. To manufacture tools and mould frames, the material must be machinable, resistant to wear and dimensionally stable – the requirements for economical production and a high-quality part surface. In close cooperation with regional tool and mould makers, SCHMOLZ + BICKENBACH are constantly expanding their offerings and are thus able to meet the specific demands of the Polish market. At the warehouse and service location Mysłowice, SCHMOLZ + BICKENBACH Poland machines and cuts blocks and plates to size to customer specification. Large sizes are polished, machined and drilled according to specification at the Group's steel mill belonging to Deutsche Edelstahlwerke. It is here that the high-performance steel is produced to meet requirements. For applications requiring a high degree of hardness, SCHMOLZ + BICKENBACH Poland sells the special steel Formadur® 320. This tool steel comes as-supplied at a hardness of 280-325 HB and 310-355 HB. Due to its high core strength, this steel is ideally suited for large-format plastic injection and press moulds for manufacturing sophisticated components such as bumpers and tailgates for the automotive industry as well as products for the packing and household goods industry. It also stands out due to its machinability, polishability and weldability as well as good texturing properties. In addition to plastic mould steel SCHMOLZ + BICKENBACH Poland will also present at Plastpol its extensive offerings of wear-resistant cold work and high speed steel as well as temperature-resistant hot-work steel. To be able to guarantee just-in-time delivery at all times, the company has stocks of the high-quality tool steel in different grades.
